Our Rose

We lost our precious Rosie dog yesterday and we are all having a really hard time with it. Although we didn't have her long, she showed us time and time again what unconditional love was. She had been horribly beaten before we got her and was terrified of all males and children that were loud. She grew to love and trust the kids, she adored my husband and she was my shadow. If she was in the house and not out in the backyard frolicking, she always had me in her line of sight, lest someone try and steal me. Most of that time would be planted on my feet, just in case she fell asleep and I tried to escape to the next room.

I believe there are lessons to be learned in everything we go through. My husband learned a valuable one. He learned that when you say you are going to do something, you need to do it immediately. Don't wait. Life is too short, tomorrow is uncertain.
We all learned a valuable lesson yesterday. We learned that life is precious. We learned that those in our lives, whom we take for granted, can be taken away from us in an instant. So if you take anything away from this post, take away the knowledge that only you are able to keep your promises. That some promises are small and easy to do, it's those larger ones that are more time consuming, more annoying to us that usually lead us towards destruction. It's the simplest things that we leave undone that can get that ball rolling, out of control, and end in disaster. Life is short. Make sure you live to the fullest, tongue waving in the wind, and chase all the balls and squirrels that you can.
