What a difference a year makes....

We met Scarlett on February 11, 2011. She was quiet and sweet and scared. Oh was she scared. It was heartbreaking as a mom to not be able to comfort her in the way she needed and take that fear away. I knew from the moment I saw her walking down that hallway that she was my baby and I loved her absolutely and completely. She looked at me and well.... at least she didn't scream. And she did take the lollipop and goldfish.

She was quick to acclimate into our family though and although we had some rough months between my two girls (mostly jealousy), they are now the best of friends.

Fast forward to February 11, 2012. We are a family. We are a typical toddler who let's our wants and needs be known. We are a snuggler, an occasional tantrum thrower, a giggly girl who has everyone in the family wrapped. We work on attachment every day with her, because even though she is doing well, she is still growing and learning about trust and what a forever family means. When she is disciplined, she is disciplined gently but firmly. We spend a lot of time snuggling and hugging and tickling. And as we do this, I see her coming out more and more. She thanks me for things without prodding. She hugs and kisses me without prompting. She helps me do things and takes great pleasure in my telling her "thank you"...

She loves....
