She loves:
Helping me carry packages into the house
Letting the dog out to go potty
Asking me what something is so she can repeat it over and over again
Egg salad, with lots of onion
Veggie and shrimp tempura
The sound of the ice cream truck
She doesn't like:
Anyone speaking Mandarin to her
Being ignored
Going under the water at her Mommy and me swim class
Being cold
Jeremiah needs prayer.

Ping so hated anything Chinese & Manderian that we had to pull her out of Chinese School and limit our time with Chinese friends, those first 6 months. I think there is such a common thread for those children that are more 'strong willed' to forceble (& volcally) reject thier culture while initially attaching those first few years.
ReplyDeleteDo you find that?
My daughter would cry if some one talked mandarin to her. She has been home 5 years now and loves to sing Chinese songs and watch Chinese children sing in videos, but it took a couple of years
ReplyDeleteRoberta,
ReplyDeleteLittle bit is quietly stubborn with things like that. She isn't rude, she just makes herself "unavailable". So suddenly goes mute and doesn't understand what they are saying or plays coy and hides her face with a smile. But yes, I would say that she rejects all things Chinese. We ate at a Chinese place today and I asked the waiter to tell her that mommy would like her to eat like a big girl and keep her mouth shut when chewing. She completely ignored him when he was talking and played coy but then spent the rest of the meal saying, "Momma!" and then showing me that she can chew with her mouth closed.
