One of my dear friends is over in China this week, loving all over my son for me. She has sent me these photos over the course of the week. What a blessing to be able to see him and know that he is getting what he needs, even if for just an hour or two a day. And what a blessing that I have a friend that loves me enough and Xavier enough to make that time to love on him while she is there.
The pictures of him outside... this was the first time he has ever been outside. Ever. Can you imagine? He just turned 3. He has spent every. single. day. of. his. life, laying on the floor, watching the ceiling, while the rest of the children from his house are able to go out and enjoy the weather and sunshine. Why? Because the ayis don't take the time with him. They think he is contagious because of his skin and so they ignore him. They don't put him around the other children. They isolate him and alienate him. They look at him with indifference and anyone who loves on him they look at with disgust. What a horrible existance for a child that did nothing wrong.
Only 4 more months until I break him out of that prison and bring him home. Home where he will always be held, loved and treated with respect. Home where he can flourish and thrive and LIVE. Home where he will have a mommy and daddy and 5 siblings that dote on him and love on him and tease him profusely. A family that will show him God's love.
In the meantime, I love you, Sarah! Thank you so much for caring about my son and taking the time with him.

Beautiful lady loving on a special creation of God!
ReplyDeleteThere aren't words - we understand and believe you however, and know some of that lack of treatment first hand too - we have a daughter with a birthmark...
ReplyDeleteGlad he got some time at least - and maybe that will help the ayi's see "differently".
hugs and prayers - aus and co,
What a change in life it will be for him to be with your family. Especially once you get home and playing with his siblings, indoors and outdoors, becomes the norm for his life! So glad that she is able to love on and prepare him for his new life, and a family of his own :)
