3 months home!
Only 3 months?
Really?
It's like she's always been here.
She understands 98% of what we say, she can get her point
across (using English words) for most things and she just flows with the
family. We still have long dissertations in Mandarin when Scarlett has upset
her or she is excited about something. I love those moments and try very hard to document them so she'll be able to hear what she sounded like.
Oh, oh, oh! We haven't had a tantrum in weeks! Weeks! When I
tell her "no" about something, she may pout, but no tantrums.
She is learning to swim, mostly one armed, but darned if she
isn't determined to use her right arm too. She will wait for me to put her Puddle-jumper
on and then run and jump into the deep end of the pool. She has no fear!
We are doing her OT three times a day on her right arm and
hand. She is flourishing! She now has more movement in that arm and her hand is
getting stronger! This from a child that we thought would never be able to use
her right arm at all.
But she is so determined.
She loves to swim. This has been the biggest motivator. She
watches her big brother and sister swim at the meets and she is salivating to
get out there and do it too!
And she is strong willed enough to do just that.
We work with flashcards everyday. Numbers, colors and
shapes. She knows most of them by heart. She wants to learn them. She wants to
learn everything! She brings me the cards every morning so we can go over them.
She will still eat everything I put on her plate. Her
favorites are bananas, tomatoes and broccoli with tahini sauce, hamburgers,
potato chips with French onion dip, ice cream, eggs and bacon and pancakes.
She is such a love. She is an awesome sister to Scarlett and
they adore each other. They play so well together, with only minor scuffles
here and there. Our only major issue was nap time and since Finn won't nap and
won't let Scarlett sleep, I have had to move her into another room for
"quiet time" while Scarlett naps.
Oh, and my final ahhhh... she still sniffs everything before she eats it. Too, too cute!

Morning Kenlyn - I soooo look forward to "this post" - we all seem to make it - it's the "seems like they've always been here" post! ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat joy for y'all - hugs - aus and co.
