Gardening is good for the soul

I lessened my veggie garden this year because I didn't want the hassle of so much maintenance. And then it dawned on me that the weeds will just have more room to grow. Sigh...

Last year we planted cucumbers, watermelon and cantaloupe too close to each other. They cross pollinated and the outcome was pretty darn nasty tasting.

As I sat in my garden today, baking in the sun, and watching the kids play on the swing set, I realized that I was content. This was the life I had always dreamed about. I don't need the fancy cars, the huge house, the extravagant vacations. I just need my kids and my husband and a patch of earth to grow some veggies on.

Life is good.
