We were so blessed to be able to meet Scarlett at Shepard's Field (spending two days and nights in the Inn there), and not the Civil Affairs office in Fuzhou. This gave her time to see us in her comfortable surroundings, as well as for us to see Shepard's Field in action. This is something that I will never forget and the bonding/attachment that was able to take place during this time was priceless. By the time we arrived in Fuzhou, she was "attached" to me and our official "Gotcha Day" consisted of signing some papers on the 3rd floor and then heading back to the room to continue to unpacking.
Scarlett's obvious comfort level and attachment also was seen and commented on by the orphanage director several times that day and when we headed out to the orphanage to take pictures of her "finding place". I hope this made an impression on him and his way of thinking if and when occasions like this pop up.
Super sweet! What a blessing!
