where everyone is pointing and staring at you.....
Well, we aren't dreaming.
Between Maeve's hair and size (she is taller than most women here) and our Chinese child in a stroller, we are causing quite a stir in the city of Fuzhou.
The children were attempting to kill each other yesterday and so we headed out to the lake for a walk. Luckily Scarlett loves her stroller (a little too much, but we'll get into that later), so I was able to plop her into it and away we went. We walked about 1/2 way around the lake and then cut through and came home. It was so cold.
The only time Scarlett is happy right now (because of her cold and I believe, grieving) she is happiest in the stroller. When we are moving and exploring, she is pre-occupied. Once we are back in the room, she has time to think about things. Add her not feeling well and it makes for a cranky, unhappy child.
Hopefully we can find some relief for her today. I left our personal stash of OTC meds at Shepard's Field and so I am counting on Isabel to take us to a local pharmacy for something close to Tylenol.
Jeremiah needs prayer.

Poor Scarlett! Hope you get some meds! Its strange how every kids grieves different. With Laila she wanted to stay in the room 24-7. She got very nervous when we left the room. I was going stir-crazy!! It all sorted out once we got home and in a regular routine. Are you counting down days till Guangzhou yet?? (((Hugs)))
ReplyDeleteEverett was the same way with the stroller. He had to fall asleep in it or we went through hours of crying at night and nap time. We didn't have one in province so we had to do the crying. Once we got to GZ and borrowed a stroller that was when he was happiest and didn't cry at bedtime. You are all in my thoughts all the time!

ReplyDeleteI am beyond ready to come home. To have to change from hotel room to room with them and then another long flight home... it is so hard on them. It shouldn't even begin to take this long to get her passport and visa. I mean, seriously!
Way to go, look how far you all have come so far! World travelers, big siblings and I'd say you are all doing wonderfully. Tell Isabel "hi" from the Strasser family - there just one year ago!! We have friends who have a daughter that went through so many of the things your Scarlett is experiencing. Even my kids home so young have experienced bits and pieces of what you're seeing...there is light ahead so just keep on b/c you before you know it all these travels will be a memory :) Grieving is so healthy and so normal, siblings will learn to take their places and you will get your bearings just in time to fly home - sounds like you have a wonderful support with Grandma - nothing beats that! Can't wait to hear all about your travels in Fuzhou and GZ...
